DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a public symposium with presentations from s
 cientists studying the impacts of the 2025 fire at the Vistra battery stor
 age facility in Moss Landing. Please register to attend by Zoom at this li
 nk.  (There will also be participants in person\, but space was limited an
 d has already been filled.)\n\nPresenters from  EMBER will speak about met
 al concentrations in soils\, water\, and animals in Elkhorn Slough. Resear
 chers from UCSC will report on metal concentrations in human hair and in d
 ust and insects near residences\, comparing values from areas near vs. far
  from the battery fire site. There will also be invited presentations from
  other researchers studying the fire. The presentations will be fairly tec
 hnical but take-home messages will be summarized simply\, and there will b
 e ample time for questions from the audience. The symposium will conclude 
 with an interactive panel discussion about lessons learned. Here is a draf
