The first step in enacting a strengthened local ordinance to protect our coast begins this Thursday, May 7, at the City's Planning Commission meeting. This updated "blue wall" ordinance would require voter approval for any zoning changes that could pave the way for offshore oil, gas, or deep-sea mining operations, and prohibit onshore industrial activities that support them.
