Water's Edge Legislation: An Environmental Perspective

AB 1790 Briefing for the Environmental Movement

California's "Water's Edge" tax election allows multinational corporations to hide their profits in overseas tax shelters. Oil and gas companies--and their allies in the Reagan administration--pushed this policy on California in the 1980s. It now costs us an estimated $3-4 billion a year in lost tax revenue.

AB 1790 (Connolly) would eliminate the Water's Edge election and require corporations to pay their fair share of taxes in California. Join the Climate Center and Fossil Free California for a briefing on the AB 1790 campaign from an environmental perspective.
