SAVE OUR SHORES: BAN THE BUTT – NEXT STOP, CAPITOLA, AUG 28

The "Ban the Butt" ordinance can make Santa Cruz the first county in the nation banning the sale of filtered cigarettes. This win is pivotal to the future of our beaches, water quality, and the safety of marine life. In order for the victory in unincorporated Santa Cruz County to stick, we need at least 2 other city jurisdictions to pass a similar ordinance to effectively ‘ban the butt' county-wide. Our most recent win with the City of Santa Cruz propels us towards that goal, but the work doesn't stop here. The Capitola City Council will put this ordinance to a vote on August 28th.
