CSC: GRASSLAND PRESCRIBED FIRE RESEARCH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY, NOV 22 (WILDER RANCH STATE PARK) AND 27 (UCSC UPPER CAMPUS)

UCSC Ph.D. student Georgia Vasey is setting up an experiment at Wilder Ranch State Park and on the UCSC campus that focuses on restoring California coastal prairie wildflowers through prescribed burning. She is comparing the response of the flowers in burned versus unburned prairies. She is looking for volunteers to help with plot set up from 9am-4pm on Friday November 22 at Wilder Ranch State Park. It will require using manual tools to help construct swales and mounds. She also needs 2-3 assistants to help set up transects and take soil samples the day before Thanksgiving, November 27 from 9 am – 2pm, at UCSC Marshall Fields.
