College of Biological Sciences at UC Davis is sponsoring a special event on October 22nd from 4-7 pm on climate denial and dis-information by big oil companies, featuring a stellar lineup of speakers that should appeal to a broad audience: Investigative Climate Change reporter Amy Westervelt who brings many years of incisive reporting on climate change and is the host of critically acclaimed Climate podcast ‘Drilled', Human Rights lawyer Steven Donziger, who successfully won an 18 billion dollar judgement against Chevron on behalf of 30, 000 indiginous Ecuadorians affected by a massive crude oil spill (but landed in prison instead), and Geoffrey Suppran who published a landmark paper in Science last year that detailed how fossil fuel companies accurately predicted that oil companies knew in the 1970s and 1980s that burning fossil fuels would cause catastrophic global warming, and choose to deny this publicly.
