Join the ACLU Santa Cruz County Chapter for our 2024 Annual Awards Event on Sunday, September 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. This event and the awardees always inspire everyone to continue working to advance and defend civil liberties. We're honored to recognize and award:

Ed Frey, longtime attorney for progressive causes, activists, and vulnerable populations in Santa Cruz County; 

Bernie Gomez, Program and Leadership Coordinator at MILPA and dedicated activist on Sheriff oversight, police militarization, mass incarceration, and systemic racism; and

Heather Rogers, advocate for justice reform and current Santa Cruz County Public Defender who has recalibrated the office to provide holistic support, rather than just legal representation.
