This series will begin with an exploration of the science underpinning our understanding of climate change and its consequences. It will then present solutions to the climate crisis based on key technologies and practices. Finally, the national and international public policies that are essential for implementing these solutions will be discussed. All lectures will be on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm Pacific Time. Lecture 1 (May 4): Paleoclimate, the Ice Age Cycle, Post-Industrial Global Warming, Climate Change Impacts; Lecture 2 (May 11): Radiative Forcing, the Greenhouse Effect and Greenhouse Gases, Feedback Loops and Tipping Points; Lecture 3 (May 18): Climate Models and Climate Prediction; Lecture 4 (May 25): Technologies and Practices for Halting Climate Change, Part 1; Lecture 5 (June 1): Technologies and Practices for Halting Climate Change, Part 2; Lecture 6 (June 8): Climate Change Denial, International Organizations and Agreements, U.S. Legislation, Future Policy Challenges.
