Two alumni filmmakers from UC Santa Cruz's Social Documentation M.F.A. program ("SocDoc") join in a panel discussion moderated by professors Rita Mehta, associate professor from UCSC's Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department, and Dan Costa, director of the UCSC Institute of Marine Sciences. Filmmakers Michelle Aguilar ("El Cacao") and Andrés Camacho ("Open Line") discuss their films' themes of sustainability, food security, and impacts on indigenous cultures and communities—through the lens of climate change. Noah Diffenbaugh, professor of earth system science at Stanford University; Aditi Sen, policy advisor at Oxfam; Naya Jones, professor of global and community health at UCSC; and Galina Hale, professor of economics, will join Stacy Philpott, professor of environmental studies to discuss the impacts of global climate change on food security.
