The City of Santa Cruz is moving forward with a City Council Subcommittee to investigate the best path forward for the future of the downtown library. This group includes Councilmembers Donna Meyers, Sandy Brown, and Vice Mayor Justin Cummings who over the course of the next 4 months
will work with library staff and interested community members to gain a better understanding of the unique needs of the library.
This first meeting will include a presentation from the former Council appointed Downtown Library Advisory Committee (DLAC) on the needs assessment completed as part of the DLAC process and well as the top priorities for the Downtown Branch as identified by the DLAC committee. Two speakers who have been identified as stakeholder in the group will be given the chance to speak and answer the question, "What are the needs that the Downtown Library should serve?". Others from the community are welcome to attend the meeting and observe.
