An event happening this month will discuss the use of e-paper technology for smart city, transportation, and transit. I'm closely familiar with the need for this in transit given my teenage daughter's struggles to navigate the METRO system based on the static signage. The event is free to attend. Please feel free to forward this to your METRO contacts.
Intelligent signage and interactive displays are among the most visible components of smart city technology deployments. E-paper, originally developed by MIT and now used in a variety of applications ranging from Kindle readers to smart watches, can offer significant benefits for municipal signage. Because e-paper only draws power when the display is changed, these displays can run for many years on minimal power - making them ideal for downtown information boards, kiosks, transit signage, off-grid applications, etc.
Join us on April 25th at the Hilton Santa Clara for a free seminar on this emerging civic technology. Presentation titles include "E-paper in Transportation Applications", "Digital Signage Makes Cities Smarter", and "A Neighborhood Approach to Smart City Development". David Witkowski will present on "Challenges & Opportunities in Building the City of the Future". The presentations will run from 2:00pm - 5:00pm, and will be followed by a free cocktail reception and demo exhibits.
The event will be hosted by E-Ink Corporation, a global company with offices in Fremont. We hope to see you there. Please contact me if you have any questions or need additional information.
