The last Poor People's Town Hall in Aptos brought together a small but powerful panel and circle of activists. Our panel hosted Drew from the Resource Center for Nonviolence and Laura from HUFF Homeless United for Friendship and Freedom. The Public Library Aptos made for a great meeting venue and bore ample space for our thoughts, a food distribution and it provided the facilities to share media. We discussed what it means to be poor, asked the question What does our community need? and told each other about our own experiences. We gave and took home from the food donation and sang together in protest.
Carefully sowing the seeds from this last Town Hall, we plan to continue and have a VOLUNTEER CHOIR for the upcoming Town Hall, so sign up to volunteer for it and contact us!
We are also organizing a CAR POOL from Santa Cruz and back for our next Town Hall. If you would like to have a seat, Get Your Seat Here. If you would like to offer your car to join the pool, please send us an email!
Last, we wish everyone a peaceful week over the holidays and that our community will come together closer during this time of the year but also that we as a community gather courage to be there for each other beyond the spirit of holidays.
