Santa Cruz Indivisible will present a conversation with California Secretary of State Alex Padilla and Santa Cruz County Clerk and Registrar of Voters Gail Pellerin on Friday, August 31 at 7:00 PM at the Rio Theatre. This is the second event in SCI's California Leadership Series.
What does a Secretary of State do? How does the position affect our right to free and fair elections? How does it relate to our local election process? What does a County Clerk/Registrar of Voters do to protect the integrity of our elections?
More than ever before Secretaries of State play a pivotal role in fighting back against voter suppression and gerrymandering, and in fortifying our elections against attacks from foreign interference. Come learn about Secretary Padilla's role in these actions and about California's new Voter's Choice Act that will reshape how, when, and where California voters register and cast their ballots over the next couple years.
The County Clerk/Registrar of Voters is on the front lines to ensure that elections held in Santa Cruz County are run with accuracy, integrity, and transparency. Come learn about County Clerk Pellerin's role to ensure that elections are accessible, candidates are informed, voters are registered, voting information is clear and concise, election data is protected, and votes are counted accurately.
