PROPOSITION 13 AND BEYOND
Efforts to close a loophole in Proposition 13 that keeps too many corporations from paying their fair share of property taxes will be the key topic at a talk by Helen Hutchison, president of the League of Women Voters of California on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Road in Scotts Valley.
A proposed initiative for the November 2018 ballot, called "The California Schools and Local Communities Funding Act of 2018", would fund California schools and local governments by closing the corporate property tax loophole in Proposition 13, while continuing to guarantee protections for homeowners, residential renters, agricultural land, and small businesses.
