The Six Indicators of Groundwater Sustainability
The California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act of 2014 (SGMA) requires groundwater basins be sustainably managed by 2040. In response, a collaboration of local agencies, water districts, and private well owners in the Santa Cruz area formed the Mid-County Groundwater Agency (MGA) to manage the Santa Cruz Mid-County Basin (roughly from Highway 17 to La Selva Beach), which is in critical overdraft.
This session, the fourth of the series, will be on groundwater modeling.
The first workshop covered basic groundwater management and planning. The second covered the state of the basin. The third focused on the six indicators of groundwater sustainability according to the California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act of 2014.
